SM School of Embroidery



Join us each month to learn a new embroidery technique.  No machine necessary as this is a lecture/demo style class.

Come to our party and learn how to create this fun towel hanger with a coordinating applique for your tea towel! Add some cheer to your kitchen with this fun project, or make one up for a friend! This hands-on class is a great opportunity for beginning embroiderers and seasoned stitchers alike! We will walk you step by step through the process of creating this charming project.

This class is not machine specific so all embroidery machine owners are welcome!

Bring the following supplies to class:
  • 2 GB or 4 GB USB Stick to load project design and instructions.
  • Pencil and Paper to take notes

Fabrics:

• 2- 6” x 10” pieces of fabric for the towel hanger

• 1– 4½” x 4” applique fabric for the mixer

• 1– 2½” x 2” applique fabric for the bowl

Stabilizers:

• 2 pieces of Water Soluble Mesh –large enough to hoop (approximately 10” x 15”)_

• 1-6” square Fiber form

• 1– piece of Sticky Tear Away stabilizer – large enough to hoop (approximately 10” x 15”)

• 1 piece Applique Fuse and Fix (8” x 10”):

              From this cut:  4 ½” x 4” for mixer applique

                                         2 ½” x 2” for bowl applique

Threads:

• Threads to coordinate with fabrics

• 3 Bobbins

           o Wind one bobbin with bobbin thread

           o Wind one bobbin with thread to match hanger cover stitch (outer outline)

           o Wind one bobbin (25% full) with thread to match hanger detail stitch (inner outline)

Other Supplies:

• Plaine Tea Towel (20” x 28”) in a color to coordinate with hanger and appliques

• ½” button

Tools:

 Embroidery Needle Size 75/11

• Temporary Marking Pen

• Embroidery Scissors for trimming threads

• In the Hoop Applique scissors for trimming applique

• Temporary Adhesive Spray (Web Bond or 505 Temporary Adhesive Spray)

Embroidery Machine:

• Embroidery Module

• Power Cord

• Embroidery Foot

• Embroidery hoop (large enough for 5.02” x 8.43” design)

• USB stick to load project design
