In-Person Class. Please arrive 10min early to set up your machine

Join Candace for this 3 session class (9 hours) to learn More Serger Stitches and Techniques making this Deb Canham Day Tote Bag. 
This is a beginner class however, you must know how to use and thread your serger. 
Learn more techniques such as threading and working with decorative threads, 3 thread edge work, quilting with your cover stitch machine, and much more. 

Supplies you need: 
  • Download this pdf pattern and print out the tutorial at

  • Your Serger and CoverStitch Machine (for Quilting) or Serger and Sewing Machine (for Quilting)
  • Fabrics: see the tutorial (3 or 4 coordinating fabrics)
  • Decorative Threads (2 colors)
  • In-R-Form Double-Sided Fusible Bosal Interfacing or ByAnne's Soft & Stable (18x58 or larger) you can use non-fusible
  • Serger Thread to coordinate with your fabric
  • Decorative Thread: 12weight is good such as Candlelight, Razzle Dazzle, 
  • Feet: Cording Foot, Lace Applicator or Blind Hem foot helpful but not essential.
  • Sewing notions such as scissors, ruler, cutter & mat, iron, marking tools
  • Double-eye needles (helpful)
  • Optional: webbing for handles

Day 1: No Machines Needed: Bring Iron and Ironing Mat. We will be cutting, organizing, and fusing our fabric 
Day 2: Serger work, construction

Day 3: Construction: Complete construction, Add the handles

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: Please be aware that AVS wants to keep our staff and students healthy. During this time, AVS will not be supplying classrooms with cutting mats, rulers, irons, ironing boards or rotary cutters. Please bring your own. All machines, tables and chairs will be sanitized BEFORE and AFTER each class. We ask that you sanitize your hands often, practice social distancing and wear a mask. Thank you!

CLASS REGISTRATION PROCEDURES You can register for any class in the store. If you are paying by credit card, you can register by mail or phone (619-225-2739, 760-739-8222 or 800-401-8151). For a free class, you can send an e-mail to pos2@sewingmachinesplus.com. Please include your name, address, phone number, the name of the class and the time and date. The registration fee must be received to reserve your space. Most classes have a minimum number of students to run. If we do not meet the minimum of students three (3) days prior to the class, we will notify you that the class is cancelled. If your class is not held for any reason, you may transfer to another class or receive a refund. You may cancel for a full refund up to four days prior to the class. No refunds can be given within three days prior to the class.
