Supplies to bring to class:
- Sewing machine in good working condition with power supply and foot pedal.
- Pattern: Kato Project Bag Pattern
- Fabric: (we will be cutting from measurements, not from the pattern template)
- See pattern for types of fabric to use and amounts you will need.
- This pattern uses several coordinating fabrics such as cotton,
- Lining fabric (or use fusible vinyl or waterproof canvas for easy inside clean),
- Draw string cord
- Fusible woven interfacing such as Pellon SF101
- Sewing Thread coordinating colors
- Sewing notions:
- Cutting tools such as fabric scissors, rotary cutter and mat
- Water soluble fabric marker or chalk
- Ruler
- Needles: 90/14 or 100/16 jeans needle
- Steam iron and pressing mat and cloth
We will cut out the fabric and sew up the bag in class.
**Fabric info:
For Exterior: Medium-weight woven fabrics such as cotton canvas, cotton/linen blend, cotton drill, or home décor weight. Quilting cotton can also be used, but I would recommend using cotton duck as an interlining in addition to the woven interfacing specified below.
For Lining: Any light to medium-weight woven fabric - I use cotton duck or medium weight cotton calico/muslin for lining project bags as it gives body and firmness without adding weight or bulk to the bag.
