MB Beginning Serger Garments w/Candace: Tami Hoodie 2 classes
Beginning Serger Garments w/Candace
You have a serger and perhaps a cover-stitch machine. Now what? Join Candace each month to learn tips and techniques for using your serger to make basic knit garments
The Tami Hoodie will be a 2 part class (3 hours each) as this pattern is a bit more challenging and we want to have time to finish this garment. The TAMI Revolution Hoodie includes 3 hood options, 2 lengths, 2 zipper options, 2 pocket options, 2 cuffs and so much more. This is one pattern for all your seasonal sewing.

Fabric suggestions include: Pattern made for Sweater knits, Hachi, sweatshirt fleece, fleece, french terry, medium-thick knits with 25% stretch
**Please only select patterns from this list. You will have the confidence to sew other patterns at home.
Printing How To: Print on your home printer and send the AO file to www.pdfplotting.com to have it printed on large paper. (contact me with questions on this option)
This file gives you information for printing PDF patterns and optional layers. https://newhorizonsdesigns.com/new-horizons-patterns-101/
You will be printing the US Letter PDF file. Make sure your printer is set for “actual size” before you hit print.
Bring the following supplies to class:
- Pattern printed and taped together (there will not be time to do this in class)
- Serger with power supply and foot pedal and threading chart
- 4 spools of serger thread to complement your fabric choice (threads do not have to be the same colors but should complement your fabric)
- Serger Feet: Standard Foot or Clear foot or Open-Toe Foot or Teflon Foot
- Needles: ELx705 needles or Jersey/Ballpoint or Stretch needles size 80/12 or 90/14 (depending on your fabric)
- Optional Notions: ribbing, 2 grommets, zipper 7” for side shoulder and/or 28” front zip, drawstrings, fusible interfacing for zippers and grommets.
- Sewing notions for cutting, marking, and pinning fabric (Clover Clips recommended instead of pins). Double-eye needle, tweezers, scissors, fabric glue, Wash-a-way Wonder Tape for installing zipper.
- Pattern weights helpful for cutting out fabric
- Fabric: see the pattern for yardage. I used fabrics from SSE: https://sosewenglishfabrics.com/
