At some time or another, everyone can use an Extra-Large Bag that will carry everything. Whether going to the Beach, taking things to class or many other uses. I am sure this bag will lend itself to many purposes.
We are going create this bag totally with a serger and a coverstitch machine. Those without a coverstitch machine will need to use a sewing machine to complete certain steps.
This will be a two-part class. ($25 each class)
- In the first class, we will be cutting out fabric and preparing the individual pieces.
- In the second class, we will be putting everything together.
Supplies Needed.
- I used 3 different cotton fabrics.
#1 = Base Fabric 24”x 19”, Inside Pockets (2pcs) 24” x 11”, Bottom Strip (24” x 6”) & Strap (6” x “85”)
#2 = Outside Pocket (2pcs) 24” x 11”, & Top strip (24” x 3 ½”)
#3 = Inside Base (24” x 29”) Fabric, Pocket lining (4pcs 24” x 12)
- Bosal Katahdin On-A-Roll Jelly Roll Rug (2 ½” x “85) for Strap. If you wait to purchase this item, we can share a roll and split the cost.
- Floriani Perfect Stick Cutaway stabilizer
- Vinyl Mesh 18” x 36” Roll (you do not need until 2nd Class). SMP is ordering more colors.
- Floriani Polyester Embroidery Thread. Because this bag needs strength, I used 4 spools of good polyester thread instead of regular 2 ply serger thread.
- Serger and Coverstitch in good working order, along with feet and all tools. (If you do not have a Coverstitch, we will have a couple sewing machines available in class.
- Travel Iron, Ironing Mat, and cutting tools.
- Plastic clips and pins
- Marking tools
