Quilting 101 w/Michelle 5-Part Class
Do you want to learn to quilt or want a refresher course? This is the perfect class for you! You want to make a quilt, but can't tell a rotary cutter from a seam ripper? Michelle guides you every step of the way as you learn to plan, cut, piece, quilt, and bind your quilt in six sessions. She'll get you piecing and quilting in no time -- and loving it!
Supplies Needed: (all are available at SMP)
Fabric (I used Makower Petite Fleur fabric line available at SMP):
- (3) ¼ yards of coordinating fabrics in pink hues
- (3) ¼ yards of coordinating fabrics in yellow hues
- (3) ¼ yards of coordinating fabrics in bluish / purple hues
- ¼ yard Inner Border
- ½ yard Outer Border
- 1/3 yard Binding
- 1 ¼ yard Backing fabric
- 1 ¼ yard Batting
Other:
- Start Quilting with Alex Anderson, 3rd Edition. Available at SMP
- Sewing machine in good working condition w open toe foot, ¼” foot, walking foot (to quilt)
- Microtex 80/12 needles, scissors, seam ripper, pins or clips,
- Neutral or matching thread to piece
- Cutting mat, rotary cutter w good blades, 6” x 24” and 6.5” x 6.5” rulers
- Small Iron, ironing mat (SMP has some ironing mats to use)
Not needed at the first class:
- Basting Spray or Safety Pins
- Masking Tape
- Marking Pen or Pencil
