At the January 9th Ruler Class, we will work on the pockets for our templates.

Also, I would like those that have pieced quilts or blocks ready to be quilted, to bring them.  We will address how they could be quilted using the sample ruler set we have been using.

It should be a very interesting and productive class.

Pocket Description: In this class, you will learn how to use individual ruler templates. We will be
making 6-inch squares using a particular template to show what that template can create. Then we
will make a pocket with clear vinyl, the 6-inch square, and an identification label. Once we have a few
pockets made, we will apply them to a base fabric to make a bag.

The Westalee quilt rulers are wonderful but wouldn’t it be great to be able to organize them and have
them handy when we need them. Color of fabric is your choice. Plain fabric with a contrasting color
thread will show the actual quilting better than a print.

Fabric Prep:
• 4 to 6 complete quilt squares. (White or Ivory Cotton Fabric)
a. Cut (1ea) from Main Fabric, Backing, & Batting 10” x 10” Square (do not stitch together)
b. Mark a 6.5” square in the middle with Fine Line Water Pen

• Sewing Machine with Extension Table
• Dedicated Bobbin Case for free motion work (we will be adjusting the bobbin tension and you

• 8 ½” crosshair square (If you have)
• 90/14 topstitch needles
• 40 wt. Quilting Thread (Choose a color thread that will show off the Quilting)
